The 15th International new music festival AFEKT will host a conference Multimedia Composition: Fine Arts and New Technologies. This two-day event will discuss the interdisciplinary nature of new music, focusing on the works of the resident composers of the festival, Georg Friedrich Haas (Columbia University, New York) and Toivo Tulev (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn), as well as a leading multimedia composer of the younger generation, Simon Steen-Andersen (Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus). The themes of the conference will be reflected by workshops and concerts of the festival.

Working language of the conference is English.

Requirements for participation:

We welcome participants from across disciplines at PhD and MA levels of study. Those interested can apply by e-mail by writing to Aleksandra Dolgopolova (doktorikool@ema.edu.ee). The deadline for registration is Oct 10th, 2016.

Students who are not members of graduate school of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre are required to add a short CV to specify their education and research interests.

The working language of the conference is English. The plenary lectures and workshops will be open to the public.

Participation is free of charge; accommodation and travel costs of the students of GSCSA will be reimbursed.

 

Free-ticket to one concert of student’s own free choice will be offered to the registered doctoral students (GSCSA members) by the organizers. The resident composers of the festival are Georg Friedrich Haas (AT) and Toivo Tulev (EE).
